STEP 1
The Problem Statement
Smoky Falls Tribe Coffee is a coffee brand with its beginnings going as far back as 2009. Over the years, the brand has become one of Meghalaya's gems known for reviving the art of coffee drinking in Meghalaya.
With such a legacy, the brand needed a refresh on not only a logo but a whole identity that works as a system - one that could seamlessly extend across packaging, marketing and on-ground festival experiences while staying true to its roots and its original aesthetic.

How might we translate a legacy coffee brand into a scalable identity system that works across packaging, marketing and experiences without losing its original character?

Research Insights
Legacy brands carry strong visual memory, making drastic change risky but stagnation is limiting
The existing identity held recognisable elements that customers associated with authenticity and nostalgia - waterfalls, coffee cup, concentric rings
The brand’s presence appeared fragmented across touchpoints, lacking a unified visual look and feel
There was an opportunity to build a system that could retain familiarity while enabling consistency and scalability
STEP 4
The Design Solution
A refreshed identity system that builds on the brand’s existing visual language while refining it into a cohesive and flexible framework.
Key elements were retained and evolved to preserve familiarity, while new structures were introduced to ensure consistency across packaging, marketing and on-ground experiences such as festivals and pop-ups.
Packaging was redesigned to suit the new aesthetic
A Brand Guidelines Document was created - acts as a standard blueprint to the brand's design identity.
STEP 5
Outcome
A unified and scalable brand identity that strengthens recognition while enabling the brand to expand confidently across multiple touchpoints.
The refreshed system preserves Smoky Falls Tribe Coffee’s legacy while positioning it for continued growth and visibility.
